Four of our better horses enjoyed a day out at Chepstow on Tuesday ahead of a return to action in the next couple of weeks.

First up were Silviniaco Conti and Ptit Zig who cantered two miles upsides before racing followed by Aux Ptits Soins and Zubayr.

It wasn’t a serious gallop, more a welcome change of scenery for the quartet at half speed before they quickened up nicely in the straight. It was an ideal prep for them.
Silviniaco Conti and Aux Ptit Soins had more than their share of problems this time a year ago but I’m pleased to say I’ve had a clear run with both of them this time. Conti is heading to Down Royal on November 5 while Aux Ptit Soins, who settles better now, could start over fences the same day at Wincanton if they have had sufficient rain by then.
Zubayr is pencilled in for the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton provided the ground is suitable and Ptit Zig will return to France for the Grade 1 Grand Prix d’Automne over three miles.
